Sybil and her kittens
Sybil, a beautiful stray calico, had occasionally visited our yard since August of 2001. She has four kittens who were born approximately July 1, 2002 though we didn't discover their presence till three weeks later. She is aptly named; having multiple personalities. LOVES Kenny. Tolerates me. All the other cats, even her own kittens, give her a wide berth -- she has a 2' NO CAT ZONE around her. It used to be about 15'.
We were determined NOT to make these cats become Indoor RankinKatz, but you can guess how long that resolution lasted.
Sybil, her daughter Mickey and brothers Peanut and BB are all members of the family now. Her three surviving kittens are all very sweet, and shy with strangers. Daughter Tessie died in 2009 from complications of a spay. It took us nearly 7 years to summon up the determination to catch her to get her spayed. She acted feral the entire time she was with us. In hindsight, we should have left her alone, since all the other cats were fixed.
